SPICAP Certification

Once you’ve purchased SPICAP – PDF or Customized, you can then begin your quality control program and ensure your inspection standards program is successful!  SPICAP offers online certification and gives you flexibility to have users self-trained, have training performed by the Gadberry Group, or establish in-house trainers.  Once training on  SPICAP  is completed, online certification can be purchased.  A trainee’s name can be submitted, with associated email address, and the email will receive a user name and password to sign-in for SPICAP testing. Certification, once obtained, is valid for five years.

Certification and testing benefits include:

  • Ensure your operators are performing inspections accurately using your standardized pipe coding system!
  • Ensure all operators are performing at the same level, producing constant, consistent results on all your inspections!
  • Online testing for 24/7 access, users can complete testing “as they are available” to meet required certifications.

Certification Levels

  • Level 1, Beginner/Novice: A beginner/novice level trainee may have some experience performing pipe inspections, experience using pipe inspection software applications, and has gone through training on SPICAP. This does require passing the Level 1 Certification testing shown below.
  • Level 2, Intermediate/Journeyman: An intermediate level trainee meets Level 1 requirements and after completing Level 1 Certification, has inspected over 30,000 lf of pipe inspections using SPICAP. This does require submittal of several documents and likely will take 2-3 hours to organize submittals.
  • Level 3, Expert/Master: An expert trainee that has met Level 1 and 2 requirements and has inspected over 50,000 lf of pipe inspections using SPICAP.
  • Level 4, Master Trainer:  An expert trainee that has met Level 1,2, and 3 requirements and provides training and QA/QC to other SPICAP certified inspectors.

Certification Level 1, Beginner/Novice – $200

  • There are 50 questions, some are multiple choice, some are required manual input, some are selecting pictures from options to depict the correct observation.
  • If more than 5 questions are answered incorrectly, the test stops and the user is recommended for remediation and does not receive a certificate of completion.
  • A user has 3 available attempts to complete and pass the test.  After that a new test can be purchased.
  • The user will need to enter specific detail on relevant to their personal/unique information. We have users often move agencies and the SPICAP certification stays with the user, irregardless of who has “paid” for the testing.
  • The test must be completed within 90 minutes total.  After 90 minutes the test “times-out” if not submitted.  Throughout the test answers are saved in case of disconnection, but total time to complete testing can not be over 90 minutes.
  • Level 1 testing does require:
    • online access via smartphone, tablet or pc
    • camera at your device for picture to be stored throughout testing
    • 60-90 minutes depending on your skillsets and experience
